California recall election results LIVE — Gov Gavin Newsom could lose power today after Rose McGowan backs Larry Elder

GOVERNOR Gavin Newsom could lose power today in California's recall election as Rose McGowan backs Larry Elder.

Joe Biden headed to California yesterday to campaign with California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Biden’s visit, his first to California since taking office in January, underscores the importance of his party maintaining the governorship in the nation’s most populous state.

Newsom also has been one of the most aggressive governors when it comes to the coronavirus, mandating that children wear masks in school and that health care workers get the vaccine.

Talk radio host Larry Elder, the GOP frontrunner in the recall, has slammed Harris and Biden over their appearances, claiming they are trying to distract attention from Newsom’s record on widespread homelessness, rising crime, and long-running school and business closures during the pandemic.

    PREVIOUS APPROVAL RATING

The President is also getting involved in a legislative push for a major infrastructure package.

Biden's approval rating was 53 per cent in May and about the same the month before that at 54 per cent.

At the beginning of his presidency his rating stood at 53 per cent.

Biden's approval rating is the most consistent through the early part of his presidency of any president since World War II.

WHAT IS JOE BIDEN'S APPROVAL RATING?

According to a new FiveThirtyEight poll, President Biden's approval rating as of August 13, 2021, was hovering at 50 per cent.

Pundits are putting down this dip from earlier surveys to his response to the crisis in Afghanistan.

However, Biden has a disapproval rating of 43.8 per cent – its highest point so far.

Morning Consult has the President pegged at 50 per cent and Republican-leaning Rasmussen Reports/Pulse Opinion Research has him at 49 per cent, according to an August 15 poll.

Biden has faced several challenges since taking office in January, including the Covid-19 vaccine rollout, a surge of migrants at the southern border and a major economic and coronavirus relief package and the swift fall of Afghanistan.

    THE BALLOT

All California voters received ballots in the mail. The ballots have two questions: Should Newsom be recalled and, if so, who should replace him?

He’ll be removed from office if more than half of voters want him gone.

LARRY ELDER QUESTIONS 'SAFETY' OF RECALL VOTE

The front runner is Larry Elder who this week also called into question the safety of the recall vote.

The conservative radio host, an avid Trump supporter, echoed the former president’s allegations of fraud in an interview with Fox News.

He claimed the presidential election was full of “shenanigans” and that he was worried about the same in California on September 14.

"The 2020 election, in my opinion, was full of shenanigans. And my fear is they're going to try that in this election right here and recall,” he told Media Buzz on Sunday.

"So I'm urging people to go to ElectElder.com. Whenever you see anything, hear anything suspicious, go to my website.

“We have a battery of lawyers. We're going to file a lawsuit in a timely fashion this time.”

WHO IS IN THE RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR?

Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, faces a recall election following a Republican-led backlash against the California Governor's handling of the Covid pandemic.

Critics of Newsom, who has served as governor since 2019, have reacted furiously to his shutdowns of the state.

As of April 2021, organizers of the Republican recall effort against him had collected enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot, state election officials confirmed.

The California secretary of state's office said that more than 1.6million signatures had been deemed valid – about 100,000 more than needed to trigger just the second such election in the state's history.

Arnie has predicted that about 100 candidates will enter the race for California's highest office.

The action movie star was the 38th governor of the state of California.

REPUBLICANS MORE LIKELY TO VOTE IN RECALL

Recent polls,  however, have suggested that Republicans are more likely to turn out to vote than Democrats in the recall election as they bid to get rid of Newsom.

He has been accused of mishandling the Covid pandemic and a petition received the required 1.7million signatures for a recall vote in April.

Critics of Newsom, who has served as governor since 2018, have reacted furiously to his shutdowns of the state.

QANON THEORIES THINK TRUMP WILL BECOME CALIFORNIA GOVERNOR

Followers of the conspiracy theory are insisting that the bots are being used to stop Republicans from voting to oust the Democrat.

No evidence has been presented to suggest that online bots are being used to suppress conservative votes in the state.

QAnon supporters have maintained that the “storm” is coming – the storm being a moment in which Donald Trump will rise back to power and reveal to the world a Democrat-led child sex trafficking ring.

The date for the “storm” has constantly changed as one deadline after another goes by with no big reveal.

LARRY ELDER ON ROSE MCGOWAN ALLEGATIONS

Elder told Fox LA that he had not verified McGowan's accusations, but that she had produced emails from Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

Elder said of the allegations, "Now I don't know whether it's true, that Gavin Newsom's wife called on behalf of Harvey Weinstein's lawyer and tried to get Rose McGowan and tried to get her to back off of her allegations six months before the allegations blew up."

But he added: "Rose McGowan has produced emails that were sent to her from Gavin Newsom's wife suggesting that they were having some sort of correspondence.

"What in the world is Gavin Newsom's wife doing contacting Rose McGowan, who made serious allegations of sexual harassment, if not rape, of Harvey Weinstein, who currently is facing several charges of rape as we speak?"

Elder and McGowan will speak to the media together at the Luxe Hotel Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.

Financial disclosures obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show that Boies has sent Newsom gifts, including expensive bottles of wine.

A report from The New Yorker also showed that in 2017, Boies attempted to "dig up dirt" on Weinstein accusers to smear their credibility.

McGowan also posted a video to Twitter on Thursday slamming the current governor and his wife as a "fraud."

It was announced on Wednesday, July 27, 2021, that Governor Newsom and his wife decided to remove their children from a summer camp following face mask policies.
