A Cambridge University drinking society is to disband after a video emerged showing a slurring student making a ‘shameful’ speech blasting ‘inclusivity’ in a branch of Wetherspoon’s.

The Trinity Hall Crescents were filmed in the Regal pub in Cambridge, with one attendee standing on a chair to say that ‘inclusivity’ was the ‘single biggest problem facing the Crescents in the modern age’.

Several of the group were said to have been sick in the pub toilets after ordering beer and fry-ups while one who made a speech also blasted the use of public swimming pools.

Wobbling around, he said: ‘I can’t swim very well, almost as if I’ve never had the money to pay for swimming lessons … I have, but I dislike it.

‘It’s just snot-nosed kids putting their verrucas in the f****** pool. I swim like someone who’s never had the money to go swimming.’

The footage is believed to have been taken on Caesarian Sunday, May 6, when many students drink heavily to celebrate the period before exams.

After the video surfaced on social media, members of the society were barred from the college bar and bosses are considering ‘further sanctions.’

Trinity Hall, where all members study, has since cancelled the club’s annual summer party and issued an apology.

And the person seen speaking in the video, although not apparently a Crescents member, is said to have moved out of college accommodation to get some ‘personal space.’

The incident is currently being investigated by the college, with the outcome of any disciplinary procedures not yet decided.

One source said: ‘This behaviour isn’t uncommon – it puts us all to shame.

‘Students have complained about the Crescents for years. They’re only being dealt with because it was caught on camera.’

Dr William O’Reilly, acting senior tutor for Trinity Hall, said in an email to college students: ‘I do not wish to prejudge the outcome of that investigation but wish to assure you that the College will not allow the unacceptable behaviour of a minority impinge on the lives of the majority’.

A Trinity Hall spokesman added: ‘During a college society incident a man made some ill-judged remarks that have caused understandable concern and distress.

‘Though the man was not a member of the society, the group has issued an unreserved apology for the remarks and emphasised it does not condone any of the views and sentiments expressed.’

Trinity Hall alumni include Stephen Hawking, the Oscar-winning actor Rachel Weisz and political commentator Andrew Marr.
