Death toll rises to nine in Florida condo collapse

The death toll from the Florida condo collapse has risen to at least nine, reports said Sunday.

Four additional bodies were pulled from the rubble of the building in Surfside on Sunday, said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, according to CNN.

The new bodies were added to the five already confirmed dead. And the death toll was certain to rise — with “additional human remains” found also, Cava said.

But the mayor said efforts to find survivors continues around the clock.

Cava said 156 people remain unaccounted for at the site.

“Our top priority continues to be search and rescue and saving any lives that we can,” the mayor said. “Our teams have been working around the clock as always to search for survivors.”
