A youngster who fell into a 400ft-deep well in a horrific accident whilst playing with mates is stuck around 55ft into the hole as frantic rescuers race to save him before it’s too late.
Tanmay Sagu plunged into the tunnel, that is used by farmers to extract water from deep underground, yesterday (Tuesday, December 6) in Madhya Pradesh, India.
The eight-year-old is currently not responding to his rescuers, sparking fears he was knocked out during the plummet, according to Betul Additional district magistrate Shyamendra Jayaswal.

He told news agency ANI: "The rescue operation has been underway since we received the information. Efforts are being made to take out the child.
"At 2.30am State Disaster Response Force, home guards and police teams reached the spot to rescue the child…
“It is taking more time than we expected because there are stones. We called a breaker machine at night to break the stones. JCB and Poclain machines are also being used.”
Heroic rescuers managed to worm an oxygen tube through the well to reach the unlucky kid, but say it is difficult to find out more information as there is a lot of mud in the well.

Authorities have said they are praying for Tanmay to make a safe return to the surface with lawmaker Shivraj Singh Chouhan saying he is in "constant touch" with local officials.
Worryingly, there are a number of uncovered wells that remain scattered across the area.
An increasing number of farmers resorted to setting up the deep tunnels in an attempt to extract more water from the ground amid shortages, but once it runs dry it is often abandoned – posing a dangerous risk to kids and others in the area.
