Dr. Seuss books dominate Amazon’s top 10 list after ‘cancellation’
“Cancel Culture” is just what the doctor ordered.
Dr. Seuss dominated Amazon’s top 10 bestselling list on Wednesday, one day after the publisher announced it was pulling a number of books for apparent racist undertones.
Seuss books, including famed titles such as “The Cat in the Hat,” “Green Eggs and Ham” and “Fox in Socks,” accounted for nine out of the top 10 bestselling books as of Wednesday morning.
More of the children’s favorites flooded the entire top 50 bestselling list, accounting for 30 of the titles, the list shows.
On Tuesday, what would’ve been the late author’s 117th birthday, the publishing company behind Seuss’ work announced six of the scribe’s books were the latest victims of cancel culture, including “If I Ran the Zoo” and “The Cat’s Quizzer.”
The publisher decided to stop producing the books because they “portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,” they said.
Since the decision, the banned books are fetching thousands of dollars on eBay.
