EuroMillions £115m jackpot CLAIMED by lucky ticket-holder making them fourth biggest winner in UK history

The National Lottery said by winning the entire £114,969,775.70 sum they have made history and started 2019 off with a bang.

A further 10 players have also pocketed £1 million each in the New Year's Day draw.

Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at The National Lottery, said: "What a start to 2019 for UK EuroMillions players.

"All players are urged to check their tickets to see if they are a big winner and can turn 2019 into one long celebration."

The winning main EuroMillions numbers were 01, 08, 11, 25, 28 and the winning EuroMillions Lucky Star numbers were 04 and 06.

The New Year's Day win follows a series of high profile lottery prizes in recent years.

Just a few weeks ago, a British man who had been sitting on a winning ticket for six weeks scooped up a whopping £76million EuroMillions jackpot.

Andrew Clark from Lincolnshire had a pile of unchecked tickets in his van.

The 51-year-old builder's family had urged him to check them after hearing about the unclaimed prize on the news.

Recalling the evening he found the ticket, he said: "I finally gave in, got the bundle out of the van and started to work my way through them, methodically from the oldest to the most recent, starting with Lotto, before moving on to my EuroMillions tickets.

"You might say I was slightly winding up Louise but I certainly didn't expect the wind up to end with me saying 'I've done it, I've won £76m' – I won't say what she said in response!"

The biggest win for 2018 was £121million which was handed to an anonymous winner in April.
