Evil dog owner behind bars after paying £200 to have puppies’ ears cut off

A cruel dog owner has been jailed after they paid £200 to have three puppies' ears cut in a cruel and painful cosmetic procedure.

Warren Wesley Jackman, from Birmingham, received a 16-week prison sentence after horrified RSPCA inspectors found the animals at his home, reports BirminghamLive.

'Cropping' or 'docking' a sees a dog's ear lobes cut away for cosmetic purposes.

It is often done with razor blades and no anaesthetic, and is illegal in the UK under the Animal Welfare Act unless it is carried out for medical reasons.

Jackman, 40, was caught after RSPCA inspector Vicki Taylor discovered the animals bleeding with stitches in their ears on a visit to his home in Redditch Road, Birmingham, last August.

She said: “Police attended a flat on another matter and were concerned about the three dogs who had cropped ears. They contacted me and seized the dogs, who came into RSPCA care.

“The puppies’ ears were freshly cropped and had not yet healed; they still had stitches in the wounds. The male pups’ ears were inflamed and sore.

“We interviewed the man who claimed to have bred the puppies before selling them to Jackman and provided us with bills of sale. He told us that Jackman had cropped their ears.

"When I spoke to Jackman he admitted that he’d paid £200 for them to have their ears cropped.”

A female bully XL named Mika and two three-month-old puppies – Zushi and Zino – were seized by police. Jackman admitted two offences under the Animal Welfare Act when he appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on June 13.

He was also banned from keeping animals for life. The RSPCA are now rehoming the animals.

Back in January retail giants Etsy and Ebay removed 'barbaric' dog ear cropping kits from their websites after they sparked outrage from vets and campaigners.
