Five people are feared to have been killed after a plane plunged into the ground moments after take off.

Fire and emergency crews rushed to Emanuel County Airport in, Swainsboro, Georgia, following the horror crash this afternoon.

A total of five people were on board the aircraft that failed moments after take off, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Their conditions are unclear at this stage, but the coroner’s office has been called to the scene, indicating that at least one person was killed in the crash.

The accident happened at 2pm (7pm BST) today involving a Cessna 182A plane, which typically has four passenger seats and one engine.

There is no word on the cause of the crash, but both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation, reports BNO News .

The incident comes after a US Army pilot and his brother were hurt in a plane crash yesterday while spreading their father’s ashes from the air.

Emergency crews cut the pair from wreckage using saws and hand tools at Cranland Airport in Hanson, Kentucky at 4pm (9pm BST) yesterday.

They were then rushed to hospital in separate helicopters.

The pilot, who’s been named online as new dad Scotty, is reportedly a Blackhawk helicopter pilot and had flown home from a NATO assignment in Bosnia for his father’s funeral.

The victims’ uncle Don Conway said their father passed away from cancer two weeks ago.
