Ford is recalling over 338,000 Explorers

Ford is recalling more than 338,000 Ford Explorers due to possible sharp seat frame edges. 

The company said it’s been made aware of 31 reports of hand injuries in certain 2017 Ford Explorers Due to an ‘improperly coined seat-frame edge’.

The vehicles affected were manufactured from Feb. 13, 2016, to Oct. 25, 2017 at the Chicago Assembly Plant.

Vehicle owners may risk injury by coming into contact with the sharp edges when reaching between the center console and power front seat. 

Ford issued the recall reference number: 19S29.

This affects nearly 312,000 vehicles in the U.S. and federal territories, as well as thousands more in Mexico and Canada.

Ford said auto dealers will remedy the situation by installing quote “flocked tape to the exposed edge and tab on the inboard side of the power seat frames.”
