Four people died early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle, head-on crash on U.S. Highway 85 in Weld County.
The crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. about five miles south of the Wyoming border, said Trooper Josh Lewis, of the Colorado State Patrol. All four died at the scene.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee was southbound when the Jeep crossed into the northbound lane and crashed head on into a 2018 Honda Accord, according to a preliminary investigation. The driver of the Jeep and a 30-year-old male passenger died in the crash.
The driver of the Honda, a 22-year-old woman, and a passenger, a 24-year-old woman, both died. No other people were in the vehicles. Everyone was wearing a seatbelt.
Investigators suspect that the driver of the Jeep was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Lewis said. An investigation is ongoing.
