An 11-year-old girl somehow survived after she was carried alone in a hot air balloon for seven miles – sparking a major emergency in Crimea.

But the balloon hit the ground and all passengers except the girl fell out of the basket before it rose in the air again.
A hot air balloon carried an 11-year-old girl for seven-and-a-half miles after it crashed and threw her parents and the instructor out in Crimea
The family, tourists from the Russian city of Samara, had gone for a balloon ride at popular resort Feodosia in Crimea, a peninsula annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014
After the balloon crashed, it threw everyone out apart from the 11-year-old girl, who was alone in it as it rose in the air again
It was flying towards the Black Sea, sparking a major alert with a rescue speed boat dispatched and helicopters on standby.
The balloon flew up to seven-and-a-half miles before crash landing on a chicken house, say reports from Crimea.
The unnamed girl was ‘not injured’, say reports, but a video has emerged showing her being reunited with her father.
Local resident Irina Leskovets was at the scene moments after the girl crashed ‘safely’ on the chicken house.
‘We heard the sound of metal, some sort of bump,’ she said.
‘We rushed outside, the children said something had fallen down – a balloon.
‘I did not realise there could be people, but when we ran there there was a girl in a basket.
‘We pulled her out, she was scared, shivering and all pale. We took her home, gave her some water and calmed her down.’
She added: ‘We rang her parents straight away and told them she was alive.’

Police and emergency services soon arrived at the scene.
The ballooning instructor ‘was white as a sheet, and the parents ran with him.
‘The girl said that they had started descending rapidly and that the basket hit the ground.
‘All the adults fell out and she, apparently because she was light, remained in the basket and it was taken up again.’

Artyom Kol, a correspondent of Vesti Crimea, said: ‘It flew for about 10-12 kilometres and landed some 500 metres away from the sea – on a henhouse.
‘Emergency services arrived at the spot. They are preparing to remove the balloon.
‘It got torn when falling but gas equipment was not damaged.
‘The girl and her father are in a state of shock.’
