A ding coronavirus patient was filmed pleading to see his wife just hours before he died from Covid-19 in a harrowing clip.

Key worker Tony Brown, 73, was fighting for his life as he lay on the bed inside the Barnet Hospital in north London.

He tragically died on Friday with his widow, Linda, giving permission for his final interview to be broadcast.

Footage taken on Thursday by Sky News shows Tony resting on the bed while on a ventilator.

Asked how he was feeling, he said: "Absolutely terrible. It's very, very frightening. I've had some very bad nights, very worrying nights.

"Twice I went to ring my wife, to tell her I weren't coming [back]. It is very hard."

Lorry driver Tony said he believed he caught the virus at work as he blamed people for not wearing face masks and ignoring social distancing.

"If people would have taken a lot more care when this come out and hadn't ignored it, we wouldn't be such a mess we're in," he said.

"We wouldn't have had so many deaths, so many people who are critically ill. And the NHS are fantastic, brilliant."

He also told journalist Jason Farrell that he last saw Linda over two weeks ago.

Tony fought back his tears and said: "Oh I miss her. But I hope to [see her] one day.

"Hopefully, I will. That's all I want now. I don't want anything else in life."

The interview ended as Tony got on the phone to talk to Linda.

Medical staff at Barnet Hospital revealed that the average age of admitted Covid-19 patients is 59 – a decade younger than that in the first wave of the pandemic.

Over the weekend, a large group of people were spotted dancing to loud music at a park in Leicester as they defied the government's lockdown rules.

NHS staff at a London hospital have previously revealed that they have been forced to prioritise which coronavirus patients get treatment in order to save more lives.
