Hilarious moment emu takes a tumble running flat out down a footpath

How emu-barrassing! Hilarious moment an emu takes a tumble sprinting down a footpath… before getting back up like it never happened

  • Emu was filmed walking nonchalantly next to a road in Shark Bay, WA
  • Suddenly another emu sprinted into view before it legs slipped out from under it
  • Second emu fell down hard on its behind before getting straight back up
  • The embarrassed bird then briskly walked away pretending nothing happened

Often the best thing to do when you embarrassingly fall over is to get back up and act like nothing happened.

That’s exactly the strategy an emu employed after its spectacular tumble on a footpath in a remote Western Australian town.

Hilarious footage shot in Denham, in Shark Bay, shows an emu walking nonchalantly across the red dirt by the side of a suburban street.

Suddenly another emu appears running flat out on the footpath next to it before slipping over.

The native bird’s legs came out from under it and it fell straight down on its behind before rolling sideways and whacking its head on the road.

Amazingly, the emu got straight back up again after sliding along the concrete for a fraction of a second, all in one motion.

It paused for a moment as if confused about what happened, before quickly walking off as the video ended.

Meanwhile, the other emu appeared started by the sound of its comrade hitting the ground and quickened its pace for a few steps.

Viewers on social media were in hysterics and joked that the emu must have had a few too many ‘bush chooks’, slang for Emu Export beer.
