Hillary Clinton on Monday dragged President Trump on Twitter, retweeting a video of an October 2016 debate in which she called him Vladimir Putin’s puppet.
“Like I said: A puppet,” she wrote in the post, sharing a Bloomberg video clip originally posted by DC journalist Josh Marshall.
Trump in the debate said the Russian strongman “has no respect for this person,” pointing at Clinton.
“Well that’s because he’d rather have a puppet as president,” she replied, prompting Trump to interrupt.
“No puppet. No puppet. You’re the puppet,” he said.
Clinton then asserted that Trump wouldn’t acknowledge Russian interference in the election.
“No, you’re the puppet,” Trump repeated.
She went on to say that Putin — who according to the US intelligence community ordered the election interference — favored Trump in the race, as he smirked and derisively shook his head.
The former first lady’s tweet came amid reports that Trump tried to keep the details of his meetings with Putin on the down-low — even from his own top administration officials.
Other reports said that the FBI opened a counterintelligence probe over his possible ties to Russia after he fired FBI director James Comey.
The president said Monday he “never worked for Russia” and slammed Comey and other top former FBI officials as corrupt liars.
