A British tourist has died in Portugal after emerging from a dip at an Algarve beach.
The man, 55, collapsed after a swim at the popular Praia dos Alemães beach in Albufeira on October 27.
Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports the “unwell” man had suffered a heart attack.
They arrived at 1.30pm but were unable to save him, and he died on the scene.
Portugal’s National Maritime Authority confirmed the death in a statement.
Officials said the unnamed man received aid from lifeguards before emergency services arrived.
Albufeira Volunteer Firefighters and an “Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (INEM)” crew started “resuscitation manoeuvres”.
Firefighter crews later moved the body to the Legal Medical Office of Portimão.
