Horror injuries of girl, 12, attacked by dog as she walked home from school in Wolverhampton

The youngster had her bottom lip ripped off by the beast and suffered life changing injuries following the horror in Wolverhampton on Friday.

Her family have now released a picture showing her horror injuries in a bid to track down the dog and its owner.

The girl was walking home through an alleyway when she was set upon by a black and white Husky or German Shepherd-type dog that had no owner.

She was bitten on her mouth and her bottom lip was ripped off by the animal in the savage attack at around 3.35pm.

The schoolgirl will now have to undergo extensive plastic surgery to repair her injuries.

West Midlands Police said: "The attack happened off Ellerton Walk, Park Village, Wolverhampton at around 3.35pm on Friday (19 October).

"This appeal is to help identify the dog responsible for the attack, and leaving the young girl with life changing injuries.

"Detectives are also keen to hear from anyone who has information on who the dog belongs to and those who witnessed what happened.
