A 22-year-old man died in police custody at a Staten Island hospital early Friday — hours after he was arrested for allegedly molesting a female employee, cops said.

Daniel Milton was initially taken to Staten Island University Hospital North on Thursday evening for a head injury he sustained while jumping down stairs, authorities said.

While at the hospital, he grabbed a 26-year-old employee’s buttocks, cops said.

Cops responded around 8:20 p.m. and arrested Milton, police said.

While in custody, he “became combative” and was “acting erratically” toward medical staff, authorities said.

He was then medicated and treated by the staff, police said.

After midnight Friday, he experienced difficulty breathing and “related symptoms,” at which time medical staff tended to him again, cops said.

About an hour later, around 1:10 a.m., Milton was pronounced dead at the hospital. The circumstances of his death were not immediately clear, and the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is probing the incident.

The city Medical Examiner’s Office will officially determine Milton’s cause of death.
