Man stabbed at Nottingham Trent University before suspect in his 40s arrested moments later in terrifying scenes

DETECTIVES have launched a probe after a man was stabbed at Nottingham Trent University this morning.

The knifeman was arrested moments after launching the violent attack on the Clifton Campus at around 10.40am this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and have taken the victim, a man, to hospital to receive treatment.

His condition is understood to be non-life threatening, with police confirming that the attack was an “isolated incident.”

Officers have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with the attack moments after the stabbing took place.  

It is thought that students who were on campus at the time in nearby buildings were evacuated after the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Bull, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are still at the very early stages of our investigation and our thoughts at this time are with the victim and his family, who have been contacted.

“We are working hard to understand what happened but do believe this to be an isolated incident.”

A spokesman for Nottingham Trent University added: “We are working with Nottinghamshire Police with regards to an incident that occurred earlier this morning on our Clifton Campus.

"We are offering support to any students and colleagues who may have been affected.”
