A man suspected of fatally strangling his wife inside a Lakewood residence has been arrested on investigation of first-degree murder.
Mario Alonso Montoya-Rodriguez, 37, is being held at the Jefferson County jail, police said in a news release.
At about 7:15 a.m. Monday police were called to a condominium complex, in the 5700 block of West Atlantic Place, on a welfare check. When agents arrived, they found a woman dead inside a home. She had been strangled.
The victim is identified as 34-year-old Jasmine Lazaro. The suspect and victim were a married couple, police said. The suspect is also being held on investigation of violation of a protection order and child abuse.
