Melania Trump's plane forced to make emergency landing because of 'smoke and burning smell'

The plane was 10 minutes into the flight to when Secret Service agents leaped up and dashed to the front of the plane.

Moments later a thin haze of smoke began enveloping the plane and the burning smell became stronger.

Journalists aboard the plane told how they were given wet towels to hold over their faces.

The plane was en route to Philadelphia this morning when a pilot was forced to return to Joint Andrews Air Force Base because of what turned out to be a mechanical issue.

Melania Trump had been on the way to meet families of children who were affected by exposure to opioids while in the womb.
