UK weather: Met Office forecasts chilly temperatures and snow

Severe cold weather is coming to Britain, with the Met Office warning daytime temperatures will struggle to stay above freezing in the coming days. In response to this drastic drop in the mercury – especially after a hot summer and mild autumn – the forecaster has issued a rare five day amber health alert for much of England. It says there is a 90 percent probability of icy conditions striking between 6pm on December 7 until 9am on December 12. “This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services,” it says.
