Minnesota Tae Kwon Do teacher charged with molesting teen
A Minnesota martial arts teacher is being charged with repeatedly molesting a teenaged student, who told police it was “embedded” in her mind never to say no to “Master Lee,” according to a report.
Hyobin Lee, 30, was hit with two counts of criminal sexual conduct for having sex with the youngster over several months beginning when she was 15-years-old, KARE-TV reported Thursday.
The girl reported the abuse to officials at the Scott County School District last month, telling them the Eden Praire, Minnesota, Tae Kwon Do instructor had molested her multiple times and had “taken her virginity,” the station said.
During an interview with police, the victim, now 17, said the abuse began early in 2018 when Lee started picking her up at school and taking her to the martial arts class — and eventually back to his home.
She said she referred to her abuser as “Master Lee,” and that as part of his Tae Kwon Do instruction she was conditioned to comply with requests from someone of Lee’s rank and to never say no, the outlet said.
The abuse ended in November 2018 when a martial arts studio opened closer to her home and she enlisted there — but it remained a secret until the school district reported the abuse to cops on Sept. 21 this year.
Lee is a South Korean immigrant who arrived in the US in 2015 and began teaching children in October 2015.
He is being held without bail pending a court appearance.
