NYC stores dismantle safety boards put up over election fears
New York stores were spotted Monday dismantling the sea of protective plywood that had been erected over fears of a violent post-election backlash.
Workers were seen outside large storefronts in the Big Apple taking down the boards that became an alarming symbol of the revolt that officials feared would follow a divisive presidential race.
The Post spotted construction crews outside a number of high-end stores in midtown Manhattan, including jewelers Wempe and Tourneau.
While there were violent protests across the US during the anxious wait for a decision, it has been mostly peaceful since Joe Biden was declared president-elect on Saturday.
Many see that as proof that the real fear was a Biden loss, with President Trump among those who warned that “Biden’s far-left supporters are threatening to loot and riot” if they didn’t “get their way.”
