Police hunt white van man who ran over ducklings after motorists had let them cross road

A VAN driver ran over ducklings after other motorists had stopped to let them cross.

Three lanes of traffic had pulled up at a roundabout as the mother duck and her offspring waddled across.


But the white van man just took off, crushing three of the young.

Steven Walley, 43, who had been next to the van, chased the driver, remonstrated with him then called police.

Steven, a Tory councillor in Stone, Staffs, near to where the incident happened, said: “All three lanes of traffic had stopped.

"There was a mother duck and six or seven ducklings.

“They passed my car and as they started to walk in front of a white van that was stopped to my right, the driver sped off and crushed three of them.

“He would only have had to wait a couple more seconds to let them cross.

“I felt sick. I was unbelievably angry — I was livid.

"It was so unnecessary.

“I followed him and he pulled over in a layby.

"We had a heated exchange.

"He said to me, ‘I don’t f****** care’.
