Prince Harry book marks ‘end of the road’ for royals relationship, claims source

Prince Harry's upcoming book could be "the last straw" which marks the "end of the road" for his relationship with the royal family, a source has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex announced this week that he is to release a memoir promising to tell an "accurate and wholly truthful" account of his "highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned".

However, a Palace insider has hinted Harry could go too far and burn bridges with his close family.

"Although things have been very difficult, there was a small, but enduring hope that enough time would have elapsed for things to heal," the source told the Daily Mail.

"But the feeling internally [now] is that this book will be the last straw.

"The suggestion he could even be seen with his family again in the future is looking increasingly implausible.

"A lot of people suspect this is the end of the road."

The book has been ghost-written by the author and journalist J R Moehringer, who has also collaborated with tennis star Andre Agassi on his memoir, published in 2009.

Set to be released in late 2022, Harry has said he is writing it "not as the prince I was born but as the man, I have become".

Announcing the release of the upcoming memoir, Harry said: "I'm writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man, I have become."

He also added he was "deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I've learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that's accurate and wholly truthful".

A press release from publisher Penguin Random House reads: "In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.

"Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father, Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, on that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous and uplifting human story."

Financial terms were not disclosed but Harry will donate proceeds to charity, according to Random House.
