Sputnik have reported that the Ukrainians fired mortar shells and grenades at four localities in the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR). According to the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC), the attack happened in the early hours of Thursday morning.

An officer of the LPR to the JCCC slammed the attack, claiming that it violated the Minsk agreement that has led to an uneasy on-off ceasefire between Ukraine and the LPR.

They said: “Ukraine’s armed units grossly violated the ceasefire regime, using weapons that in accordance with the Minsk agreements, should be withdrawn.”

The Minsk accords were agreed in February 2015.

They declared a ceasefire between Kiev the LDR and another self-proclaimed republic in Donetsk.
