A sister of the hero Colorado cop killed while trying to tackle the Boulder supermarket mass shooter has posted a moving tribute — telling him to “soar” like the pilot he wanted to be.
“Officer Eric Talley is my big brother. He died today in the Boulder shooting,” Talley’s sister, Kirstin, wrote alongside an adorable childhood photo of the fallen cop, one of 10 killed in Monday’s slaughter.
“My heart is broken. I cannot explain how beautiful he was and what a devastating loss this is to so many,” she wrote.
“Fly high my sweet brother. You always wanted to be a pilot (damn color blindness). Soar,” she wrote.
Officials confirmed that Talley, 51 — who had served in the Boulder Police Department since 2010 — was shot dead after being one of the first to respond to the shooting at a King Soopers store in the city.
“He was, by all accounts, one of the outstanding officers at the Boulder Police Department and his life was cut far too short,” Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said at the briefing.
Talley’s father, Homer Talley, said that his son “took his job as a police officer very seriously.”
“He had seven children. The youngest is 7 years old. He loved his kids and his family more than anything,” the grieving dad said in a statement.
