Starving dog dumped ‘like piece of rubbish left to die’ sparks CCTV appeal
The RSPCA are searching for a man in connection with a case of a "dying" dog who was handed to the vets.
The CCTV appeal was launched in a bid to find the person who dropped the dog off for treatment, as they may be able to help the charity.
The poor dog was handed to Birkenhead vets and was in a heartbreaking condition and extremely malnourished.
The young bulldog is believed to have been used for breeding, as vets noticed a caesarean section scar, reports Echo.
The man who handed the dog into the Animal Trust Veterinary Surgery on December 6 left before staff could take his details. He claimed to have found the badly malnourished dog in Victoria Park.
Vets felt they had no choice but to put down the animal down due to it's appalling condition.
Now the RSPCA have released CCTV stills of a man seen inside the vets who would like to speak to.
They say the dog "was left like a piece of rubbish to die."
The dog was extremely malnourished and vets believe the animal was forced to sleep outside and her coat was stained with urine and faeces.
During further examination vets found the malnourished dog, which was suffering from hypothermia, had a range of health issues including a severe eye infection which meant she was unable to open her eyes.
She also had a serious untreated ear infection, her nose was crusting and she also had a bad skin condition. There was also inflammation on her paw possibly from standing in her own urine.
Vets even struggled to take her temperature as she was so cold and it is believed she was probably kept enclosed outside as the underside of her coat was smeared with urine and faeces and she had an ingrowing toenail.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: "The RSPCA has released images of a person they hope to speak to, as they continue to investigate the circumstances behind the dumping of a dying young dog in Birkenhead.
"Officers from the charity have now released images of the man from CCTV footage at the vets, in the hope that someone can help put them in touch."
RSPCA inspector Anthony Joynes told the ECHO there had been an outpouring of concern from the community in relation to the dog.
Mr Joynes said: "While we've seen an outpouring of concern from the local community about the condition this poor dog was found in, we're still trying to find out what happened.

"We are really keen to speak to the individual who reported finding this dog in Victoria Park in Birkenhead, and took her to the vets.
"We're now in a position to release CCTV images of this man, as we are hopeful he will have information which can really help our enquiries. There is no suggestion that we believe this man is responsible.
"This poor bulldog-type dog was in such a bad way – and we really need to find out how she was allowed to get in such a poor condition, and the circumstances behind her neglect and abandonment.
