Strip club worker feared to have infected up to 550 punters with coronavirus
A strip worker is feared to have infected up to 550 customers with coronavirus, sparking a difficult search for punters who may not be traceable.
The anonymous employee tested positive for the deadly bug after working four shifts at the strip club earlier this month.
It has been estimated the worker could have come into contact with nearly 550 customers at the Brass Rail Tavern in Toronto, Canada.
Brass Rail Tavern had reopened its doors just days earlier after a city lockdown.
Authorities have said hundreds could have been exposed to the virus, although the exact number is unknown.
The venue could face difficulty tracing customers as many may have left false identification and contact information in the tracing log, reports The Sun.
“You know how long it’s going to take them to chase down 550 guys, half of which probably gave fake ID or information?" Andrew Morris, a professor of infectious diseases at the University of Toronto, said.
According to officials, the venue had placed signs of social distancing guidelines that were not followed properly.
Current rules require customers to place a sheet of plexiglass between staff if distance cannot be maintained.
Ontario premier Doug Ross said: "There are 500 people. You’ve got to practice social distancing, you’ve got to put on a mask.

"I know it sounds ironic talking about [a strip club]. You have to."
He added: "I feel sorry for people when they go to their house and tell them that they were at the Brass Rail.
"That’s who I feel sorry for. Sorry for the spouse, seriously.
"Man, I wouldn’t want to be on the end of that one."
According to the Toronto Star, the venue is still open.
A sign outside its door reads: "During this time, we are continuing operations while upholding the highest possible hygiene standards with our staff.
"This is our main priority while we provide our guests with the hospitality and customer service that they have become accustomed to."
