Theresa May recorded humorous video for stag do telling revellers she's sorry No10 worker was too busy to join them

The Prime Minister apologised for stopping one of her staff joining pals on a pre-wedding weekend away.

And she gave the remaining stag revellers a surprise with a personalised video message explaining the situation.

The clip – which shows Mrs May's rarely seen lighter side – was made earlier this year, according to i.

It came after an unidentified young man working at 10 Downing Street was inviting to a friend's stag party.

He couldn't attend because of work – but Mrs May made up for it by filming a personalised video message apologising.

In it the PM "insisted that the employee in question wouldn’t have been much fun anyway, so she was probably doing them a favour," i reported.

Mrs May is said to be relaxed and witty in the unseen footage – in contrast to her usual "Maybot" demeanour.

Allies have encouraged her to show more of her personality in a bid to rescue her reputation for being stiff and awkward.

The PM was mocked for dancing with schoolchildren during her recent tour of Africa.

But some supporters praised her for getting stuck in and not worrying about looking polished.

News of Mrs May's stag do intervention will evoke memories of when Ed Miliband was caught up in a hen party.

The then-Labour leader was mobbed by young women during the 2015 election campaign after they spotted his bus parked outside their hotel.
