UK city ridiculed after Nando’s named best restaurant and Wetherspoons favourite pub
The gong was handed out at a bash in Preston that was meant to promote local business.
To make matters worse, a JD Wether-spoon boozer was voted best pub.
Residents took to social media to condemn the awards as a joke.
One tweeted: “A f***ing Nandos?! I’ll give Preston a wide berth if that’s their culinary summit.”
Paul Eyles said: “Lol I mean really? I know Preston isn’t renowned for being overrun with fine eateries but we can definitely do better than Nandos!”
Preston councillor Peter Kelly said staff at the chicken joint were “overjoyed” to win for the first time.
JD Wetherspoon pub The Twelve Tellers was ruled Pub Of The Year.
It came ahead of craft beer joint the Plug & Taps and student bar The Adelphi.
Another resident said organisers should “re-evaluate whether these awards celebrate Preston or national corporations”.
