Bizarre moment woman SITS on a homeless man’s bare feet while trying to claim a New York subway seat

  • A Twitter user captured the strange moment in Manhattan on Thursday morning
  • It remains unclear if the woman or the homeless man got to the train seat first
  • But witnesses were baffled, revealing the train had plenty of empty seats around

One New York woman wasn’t going to let anything get in her way when it came to getting the perfect subway seat.

Even if that meant sitting on a homeless man’s bare feet.

The woman, who has not been identified, looked less than pleased by the situation – even though witnesses said there were plenty of other empty seats to be taken.

Twitter user @BrettRedacted snapped a hilarious photo of the bizarre moment, which occurred around 10.30am on Thursday in Manhattan.

Twitter user @BrettRedacted snapped a hilarious photo of the bizarre moment, which occurred around 10.30am on Thursday in Manhattan

‘Good morning to this woman on the subway who refused to give up her seat, even as a homeless man’s bare feet wiggled behind her,’ he wrote.

Brett revealed that he snapped the image on a downtown 4 or 5 train that was leaving Grand Central Station.

‘They were both in position as I boarded the train,’ he revealed in a separate tweet. ‘There were empty seats nearby.’

Much like the chicken and the egg, it remains unclear if the woman or the homeless man arrived first.

But witnesses and Twitter users alike were baffled that the woman decided to stay in the seat when she was clearly so uncomfortable.

‘Looks like he was there first, my good morning goes to him,’ one user wrote.

‘So…who was there first? Hard to believe he laid down then put his feet behind her,’ another added.

But some took the side of the woman, with one user writing: ‘That’s life in the big city. If you take up two seats on purpose, I will squeeze myself in. Good for her!’

‘I’ve got no problem with her,’ added another. ‘Dude wants to sleep on the subway, San Francisco is that-a-way.’

The snapshot even captured the attention of a train conductor and MTA worker, who argued about what the woman should have done in the situation.

Conductor Eddie Muniz advised that someone should have brought the man to the ‘attention of the train crew’.

‘I’m sure they would have addressed it,’ he tweeted. ‘I as a conductor would’ve in a heartbeat and had him either sit upright or removed.’

But one user, who said they were an MTA worker, claimed such action was a sure-fire way to get a conductor taken out of service.

Muniz disagreed, saying he had done it himself ‘without incident’.

As for Brett, he was mostly just amused that his picture had started such a heated debate in his Twitter mentions.

‘Thrilled to report that train conductors are sanctimoniously dunking on each other in my mentions,’ he wrote.
