A MAJOR incident has been declared after a 52-seater bus crashed into a car on a bridge.<\/p>\n
Multiple passengers are feared injured as the driver was "severley trapped" when the horror<\/span> unfolded on Cleddau Bridge in Pembrokeshire this afternoon.<\/p>\n The fire service, ambulance crews and cops rushed to the scene around 2.15pm.<\/p>\n The bus driver was trapped in the vehicle with a multi-agency response ongoing.<\/p>\n Ambulance crews confirmed 10 people were taken to hospital. <\/p>\n Dyfed-Powys Police are also on the scene and confirmed road closures are in place while they deal with the chaos.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mid and West Wales<\/span> Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews responded to a road traffic collision involving one 52-seater bus and one private motor vehicle. <\/p>\n "Crews extricated a severely trapped driver who was then taken to hospital by Air Ambulance. <\/p>\n "Several of the bus passengers suffered with various injuries and many of them were taken to hospital by road ambulances and police vehicles.<\/p>\n "This was declared a major incident but is has since been stood down.<\/p>\n <\/picture>RILEY BLAST <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>IT’S BEEN GAREAT <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>‘CARNAGE’ <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>GUNNER GET YOU! <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n "Road traffic collision equipment, HGV platform and trauma packs were all extensively used throughout this incident.<\/p>\n "Some crews left the scene 4.16pm, with others remaining at the scene to further assist the Police."<\/p>\n Ambulance crews said: "We were called today, Tuesday 5 September, at approximately 2.14pm, to reports of a road traffic collision on the A477. <\/p>\n "We sent five emergency ambulances, one duty operations manager, one Cymru High Acuity Response Unit and non-emergency patient transport service vehicles to the scene.<\/p>\n "We were supported by colleagues from the Wales Air Ambulance.<\/p>\n "We transferred one patient to University Hospital of Wales, and a further nine patients to Withybush hospital for further treatment."<\/p>\n Dyfed Powys Police added: "Police are in attendance at a road traffic collision which occurred on the A477 near the Cleddau Bridge, Pembroke Dock at about 2.15pm today, Tuesday, September 5th.<\/p>\n "The A477 is currently closed between the Honeyborough roundabout and the Pembroke roundabout and road users are advised to take an alternative route."<\/p>\n Crews from Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven, Haverfordwest, Tenby and Narberth crews have been deployed along with the Air Ambulance.<\/p>\n The local hospital has urged people not to attend A&E unless absolutely necessary as they attend to those involved in the accident.<\/p>\n Hywel Dda health board said: "We\u2019re asking people to only attend A&E at Withybush Hospital if you have a life-threatening illness or serious injury, such as: Severe breathing difficulties; severe pain or bleeding; chest pain or a suspected stroke or serious trauma injuries."<\/p>\n Wales' First Minister Mark Drakeford said his thoughts are with those involved.<\/p>\n Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, he said: "Worrying to hear news of a major incident on the Cleddau Bridge. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n "Details are still emerging.<\/p>\n "My thoughts are with all those involved and my thanks to the first responders and emergency services working at the scene."<\/p>\n
