The dog also broke four of her ribs, two teeth and inflicted numerous other superficial injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her aunt told the Mail: &#8216;The dog&#8217;s teeth went into her and it was hitting her against the floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It wouldn&#8217;t let go. It was evil.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The nightmare concluded when Rukhsana&#8217;s uncle prised open the dog&#8217;s jaw as men beat it with sticks and bricks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He too was bitten on the arms in the process of rescuing his niece.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in a 2006 interview when she was 21, Rukhsana said:\u00a0&#8216;I still have nightmares about the attack and I am still terrified of dogs to this day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;When I see a dog I freeze I don&#8217;t think that will ever change.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another pit bull victim, grandfather Frank Tempest, had his nose bitten off and the rest of his face terribly injured when he was attacked by two dogs.<\/p>\n<p>Surgeons were initially reluctant to show the images to the public, but Mr Tempest was insistent.<\/p>\n<p>The attack on Mr Tempest contributed to the decision to pass the Dangerous Dogs Act.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was walking home from his job in a bakery when he was attacked by two pit bulls which had escaped from their back yard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the Mail five weeks after the attack, he said: &#8216;They turned round and came for me. They started to jump up, and grabbed me.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I was trying to save my eyes. The dogs dragged me to the ground. I was surprised how strong they were. The attack must have lasted 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I was on the ground shouting: &#8220;Would somebody please help me.&#8221;&#8216;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There came a stage when I was too weak to fight back. I just wanted to give up.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Tempest had to be rushed to hospital, where surgeons began treating his injuries.
