We all know the importance of a good lunch – especially when at school.

It's vital that kids have a balanced diet and stay hydrated throughout the day – but one mum was fuming after a teacher left her a rather blunt note about her son's eating habits.

She'd packed him a ham and cheese sandwich, some fruit and nuts, cucumber slices and a yoghurt – but the food options got a lot of people talking.

She soon vented about the note she received on social media, and people have been left confused.

The teacher offered her a "gentle reminder" to "pack snacks and not lunches", but it left the mum totally confused.

She asked people: "Can someone enlighten me why teachers think it's too much for a snack if he eats it all?"

Even so, some people alerted her to the fact that there was a lot of food packed for a snack.

One suggested: "That's a lunch-sized portion of food, not a snack.

"They have a policy of not taking food away from kids who are still eating so he's holding up class."

Another shared the same view, adding: "I'm thinking he probably takes longer than the other kids to eat. It's messing up schedule."

Meanwhile, other parents were eager to point out that she knows her "son's appetite better than anyone".

As long as he enjoyed the food, some parents didn't believe there should be an issue.

"If your child is eating it all, then he needs it. Trust you! Keep rocking it mamma", another said, according to Tyla.
