The Kremlin has sensationally accused the new British defence secretary Grant Shapps of pushing Vladimir Putin towards Third World War.<\/p>\n
Shapps revealed he was considering deploying some British troops to Ukraine and was dubbed a \u201cnewly minted cretin\u201d by Moscow. The Minister said he was looking to see \u201ctraining\u201d by UK forces as well as production of British arms for Kyiv on Ukrainian territory.<\/p>\n
His statement ignited fury from former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev, now Putin\u2019s number two on the Kremlin\u2019s powerful security council.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne newly minted cretin – the British Minister of Defence – decided to transfer British training courses for Ukrainian soldiers to the territory of Ukraine itself,\u201d posted Medvedev online.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is, turn your instructors into legal targets for our Armed Forces, knowing full well that they will be mercilessly destroyed.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd no longer as mercenaries, but precisely as British NATO specialists.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shapps was \u201cactively pushing us towards a Third World War,\u201d said Medvedev, who was Russian president from 2008-12.<\/p>\n
He compared Shapps to German politician Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, chair of the Bundestag\u2019s defence committee, who urged the German government to permit long-range Taurus missiles to be used by Ukraine to attack targets inside Russia, not only occupied parts of Ukrainian territory. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnother fool – the head of the German Defence Committee with an unpronounceable surname – demands that Taurus missiles be immediately supplied to the Khokhlobanderites [Ukrainians] so that the Kiev regime can strike at Russian territory to weaken the supply of our army.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey say this is in accordance with international law.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, in this case, attacks on German factories where these missiles are made will be fully consistent with international law.<\/p>\n
"Still, these idiots are actively pushing us towards a Third World War\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Medvedev, 58, who has ambitions to replace Putin, who will be 71 this week, if the dictator is forced to quit by ill-health, spoke as Russia faced a barrage of kamikaze drone attacks.<\/p>\n
Russian air defences were forced into action in Sochi in Krasnodar region, the country\u2019s largest resort on the Black Sea.<\/p>\n
Regional officials claimed that all five had been shot down, however Russian authorities often claim kamikaze drones have been shot down even when the UAVs hit their targets.<\/p>\n
