  I\u2019ve been single for more than a year and a half. Before that I had three two-year relationships back-to-back. So this is really my first proper date as an adult and not a teenager. I hoped it would be a confidence boost.<\/p>\n

  Pre-date nerves?<\/p>\n

  Not really. The fact that I didn\u2019t know what to expect actually made me more relaxed about it.<\/p>\n

  First impressions?<\/p>\n

  He walked in and straightaway I thought: \u2018Here\u2019s a man who loves his fashion.\u2019 I loved that about him. He\u2019d made a real effort and that\u2019s important for first impressions.<\/p>\n

  He was well dressed in a waistcoat and trousers, and was so polite when he approached the table. I thought he was really attractive too. Good-looking, tall, with a nice smile.<\/p>\n

  Easy to talk to?<\/p>\n

  We had lots to talk about – we both like Afrobeats music and subscribe to many of the same YouTube channels as we\u2019re obsessed with true crime stories.<\/p>\n

  But the coincidences didn\u2019t stop there. We share a love of London but had both just returned from trips to Vienna. We even ordered the same dish: vegan curry, even though neither of us are vegan!<\/p>\n

  Embarrassing moments?<\/p>\n

  Occasionally there was the odd silence when a conversation petered out, but we\u2019d soon start talking again, so it didn\u2019t feel too awkward.<\/p>\n

  Did sparks fly?<\/p>\n

  Although he\u2019s attractive, I didn\u2019t feel anything romantic towards him and I\u2019m sure he felt the same about me. I got the impression early on that we\u2019re not right for each other.<\/p>\n

  Clinton has very traditional ideas of wanting to settle down – and that\u2019s great for him – but I\u2019m much more independent so I knew we wouldn\u2019t be a match.<\/p>\n

  See him again?<\/p>\n

  No, we want very different things from life. That didn\u2019t stop us having a lovely time on our first date, but it would probably rule out a second.<\/p>\n

  What do you think he thought of you?<\/p>\n

  I think he\u2019ll say exactly the same as me – that we had a lovely time and it was great to meet someone new and interesting, but we\u2019re not compatible in terms of dating one another.<\/p>\n

  Would your family like him?<\/p>\n

  Yes, they\u2019d like him, but they\u2019d notice immediately that he was quite different to all the other boyfriends I\u2019ve had. He\u2019s such a traditionalist, whereas I\u2019ve always gone for men who are independent.<\/p>\n

  I\u2019ve never been in a relationship and, at 28, I feel like I\u2019ve been single for too long. But I don\u2019t just want to settle for anyone casually – I want a partner for life.<\/p>\n

  Pre-date nerves?<\/p>\n

  I\u2019ve never been on a blind date before but I wasn\u2019t too nervous. I was looking forward to it and simply hoped she\u2019d be friendly and shorter than me – not too big an ask since I am 6ft.<\/p>\n

  First impressions?<\/p>\n

  She looked amazing. I loved her haircut and her nails were gorgeous. When I went over to the table, we both smiled and said hello.<\/p>\n

  I didn\u2019t shake her hand or lean in for a kiss as I didn\u2019t want to make her feel uncomfortable.<\/p>\n

  Easy to talk to?<\/p>\n

  Yes, we had loads to talk about. I was amazed to find out she likes the same Afrobeats artists as me and we\u2019re into the same documentaries too. We also both love Game Of Thrones. We had a lot in common.<\/p>\n

  Embarrassing moments?<\/p>\n

  No, none at all.<\/p>\n

  Did sparks fly?<\/p>\n

  Sadly, no. She\u2019s physically gorgeous and a lovely person to speak to, but I think we both felt the same – there was no spark of interest.<\/p>\n

  She told me she doesn\u2019t want to settle down, but I am really looking to find someone, settle down and have children; I\u2019d like to have two biologically and then adopt two.<\/p>\n

  Then I\u2019d love to raise my family in Japan! It\u2019s not somewhere I\u2019ve ever been, but I have an urge to move there, despite how strange that sounds.<\/p>\n

  I don\u2019t think Savane would ever be on board with that dream though, and even if she was, one thing that would put me off is that she\u2019s not religious, while I have a strong faith.<\/p>\n

  But she was genuinely lovely and had a real sense of fun.<\/p>\n

  See her again?<\/p>\n

  To be honest, I don\u2019t think so. We both have different goals in life when it comes to relationships.<\/p>\n

  We caught the same train home and chatted amiably throughout the journey. But as we parted, we simply shook hands and wished each other the best, without swapping numbers.<\/p>\n

  I think she enjoyed the date but, like me, she knew it wasn\u2019t going anywhere.\u00a0<\/p>\n
