Family of WWII paratrooper who saw action at the Rhine Crossing in 1945 call for servicemen to join his funeral procession after his death aged 97<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EXCLUSIVE: Private Herbert &#8216;Herbie&#8217; Bray died at care home in Mullion, Cornwall<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Family told that flag bearers from the Army and Navy will be there\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The family of a war hero who was thought to be one of the last surviving Second World War paratroopers before his death this month are appealing for military personnel to take part in his funeral procession.<\/p>\n<p>Private Herbert &#8216;Herbie&#8217; Bray died aged 97 at a care home in Mullion, Cornwall on October 17th.<\/p>\n<p>His family plan to give the former soldier a hero&#8217;s send-off \u2013 and want military or ex-military personnel to join a funeral procession through the Cornish village where he grew up and returned to after being de-mobbed.<\/p>\n<p>His grandson Jordan Jane, 26, said: &#8216;He loved all things to do with the military and was very proud of his service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We have been told flag bearers from the Army and Navy will be there, but all ex-military are welcome. We are hoping there will be some military vehicles in the procession.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Bray joined the Parachute Regiment in 1944 at the age of 18 and saw action at the Rhine Crossing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/15\/77037299-12676233-image-a-36_1698331813436.jpg\" height=\"965\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The family of a war hero thought to be one of the last surviving paratroopers from WWII are appealing for military personnel to take part in his funeral procession.
