FEMAIL reporter Ellen Coughlan put the Morpheus8 treatment to the test during three sessions over a few months with Susan Vaughan from SV Aesthetics in London (left, before, right, after)

THE PROCESS

Morpheus8 uses radiofrequency and micro-needling to go 8mm deep in the skin.

I decided to watch a few videos of the procedure on TikTok ahead of my first session – but if anything, this just made me more nervous.

Some of the clips made the procedure look unbearably painful, leaving some of the users looking bloodied and red faced afterwards.

Chickening out of a full face treatment, I opted for the Morpheus8 treatment on my cheeks and chin for the first session.

Susan applied numbing cream, which was left for 20 minutes, before starting the procedure, which was carried on a low setting as I was a bit anxious.

While I did find the first session slightly sore it wasn’t nearly as painful as I had anticipated.

So for my next session we upped the setting to a higher frequency, which produces better results.

After my third treatment I noticed my skin appeared tighter around my jawline and chin (left, before, right after)

I also felt confident enough to treat my whole face including my forehead for the second and third treatments.

The forehead was more painful than the rest of the face as the skin is thinner, but it was over in a few seconds.

RECOVERY

I was really impressed with the recovery overall – my face was slightly red afterwards, but not more so than if I had just left a spin class in the gym.

The redness died down within 30 minutes and on the second day my skin felt tight.

There were a few little blood spots dotted around my face, however they wouldn’t have been noticeable with makeup (which you can wear 24 hours after the treatment).

Small bumps appeared on my skin the day after the treatment, however they disappeared after a few days.

The Morpheus8 treatment is a combination of micro needling and radio frequency, which sees 24 4mm needles inserted into the skin to ‘create a controlled trauma’

Susan Vaughan, from SV aesthetics, offers Morpheus8 treatment, which removes the need for fillers and Botox by using fractional radio frequency, including micro-needling at the deepest layer possible on the face and body

Two Sessions on Face & Neck

Christine Lily White, 63, saw incredible results (left, before, right, after)

‘My deep frown lines were relieved by Botox but no other treatment I looked as seemed to be a resolution to the real issue I had, lax skin that needed tightening.

‘SV Aesthetics in Mayfair offered the Morpheus 8 and I decided to go ahead, as I had seen their fantastic before & after results on their Instagram.

‘To be honest, apart from the texture of my skin and the wrinkles around my eyes looking softer, I hadn’t really noticed a change until the I saw the photographs at week 4. I was delighted!

‘I really started noticing results after my second treatment. My neck is tighter and more defined and my under eyes have really improved. Texture of skin is good and I think the marionette lines look softer.

‘I feel very positive about my treatment as it seems to be ‘turning back the clock’ for me.’

Christine started noticing her chin and jawline tightening after her second treatment (left, before, right, after)

VERDICT

My skin went back to normal about three days after the treatment, however I noticed results after about 14 days.

My skin looked more plump and appeared more dewy. I really started noticing results after my second treatment and people started complimenting my skin.

After my third treatment I noticed my skin appeared tighter around my jawline and chin.

I wanted the Morpheus8 treatment to slow down the aging process and to remove the need for fillers and Botox so I am delighted with the results.

In June, Victoria Beckham revealed the painful £700 skincare routine she undergoes to keep her skin looking fresh and ageless.

It was reported that the fashion mogul, 49, ‘swears by [Morpheus8] for keeping her skin youthful’.

As Victoria’s preference for Morpheus8 was revealed it was confirmed that if Posh fans want to follow suit they will have to fork out a whopping £700 a time.

A source told The Sun: ‘Victoria loves her beauty treatments and is willing to try out new techniques when it comes to keeping her skin looking so good.

‘She has one Morpheus8 treatment every six months. It is not for the faint- hearted and she has anaesthetic numbing cream applied to her skin 90 minutes before her treatment, which sees 24 4mm needles inserted into her face.

‘A radio frequency is then transmitted through the needles, which goes through to the tissue underneath her skin. It is painful, but Victoria swears by it for keeping her skin looking so good.’

Meanwhile Kim Kardashian has even opted for the treatment in the past.

In 2022 the SKIMS owner shared the secret for keeping her tummy perfectly toned, admitting that she uses Morpheus8.

In August, the iconic influencer took to Instagram to share a close-up snap of her abs after the treatment – which looked bright red but toned.

She captioned the post: ‘This is a game changer! I did Morpheus laser to tighten my stomach at @DrGhavami’s spa. I think this is my fave laser but it’s painful lol but worth it!’

Kim underwent the skin-strengthening session with Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon Dr. Ghavami.

She continued: ‘I’m obsessed with skin care and facial treatments and lasers so wanted to share what this is.’

Other fans of the treatment, which is just one of several applicators on the EmpowerRF women’s wellness platform, include Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna, Paula Abdul, Julie Murray and Amanda Holden.

Susan, Clinic Owner and Practitioner, said: ‘The reason this treatment is so popular is quite simple – the fantastic results with minimum downtime.

‘This is not a hands-on facial, Morpheus8 is a medical grade machine led treatment which is scientifically proven to rebuild and restructure the superficial and deeper layers of the skin, whilst producing new collagen and elastin to give outstanding skin tightening results.

‘Clients love this treatment as it is a much more natural approach compared to other more invasive treatments – there is nothing foreign being added to the skin like filler or Botox. This is a natural skin enhancing treatment.

‘Morpheus8 is my most popular and sought-after treatment at SV Aesthetics. This treatment really does turn back the clock when it comes to ageing skin. We showcase all of our before and afters on our Instagram @SV_Aesthetics.’

Susan Vaughan from SV aesthetics explains how the treatment works:

‘The Morpheus8 treatment is a combination of micro needling and radio frequency, two very well-known treatments individually – which are great for tightening the skin.

‘Put the two treatments together and you have a gold standard treatment with results to match.

‘Morpheus8 uses disposable 24 pin tips to treat the face and neck. The 24 micro needles are silicone-coated, excluding the very tip of the needle. When the needles enter the skin, a powerful radio frequency current penetrates through the very tip of the needle and travels beneath the skin, through all the layers of the skin.

‘These currents interrupt the skin structure below and helps to rebuild and restructure the skin. As well as this you get the added bonus of the micro needling.

‘As these very fine needles enter the skin, we create a controlled trauma on the skin surface and throughout the layers below.

‘Your body will be encouraged to produce new collagen and elastin to heal these very tiny micro injuries.

‘A numbing cream is applied to the area being treated to ensure the client is as comfortable as possible.

‘Morpheus8 can be a little bit uncomfortable for some clients, but a full face and neck treatment takes 20-25 minutes.

‘The skin can be quite red for a few hours post treatment, and usually totally clear of redness by the following day. We do recommend no heavy makeup, exercise or swimming for 3 days after your Morpheus8 treatment.

‘On average three sessions of Morpheus8 are recommended, which are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Maintenance is then only required twice a year following. After your first treatment you will begin to see the results after 4-6 weeks.

Morpheus8 doesn’t only help with skin tightening, it improves the appearance of lax jowls, helps with the appearance of fine or crepe-like skin, improvement of skin texture, improvement of fine lines and wrinkles and can target a small but of fat under the chin (if required).

Morpheus8 can be used on any area of the face or body where the skin has become lax. We use a 12 pin tip for the eye treatment so we can get nice and close to the under eyes and under the brow bone. A 40 pin tip for is used for the body, to ensure the treatment is quick and as painless as possible.

The most common areas treated are – Face and neck, eyes, arms, stomach, above the knees.

Morpheus8 and HA Skin Boosters are an amazing combination treatment – the Morpheus will help to tighten the skin and the Skin Booster will help to rehydrate the skin, as well as helping smooth any fine lines and wrinkles.

HA Skin Boosters contain a high concentration of hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in the skin. In short – we are not putting anything foreign into the body as your skin naturally produces HA. Hyaluronic acid holds a 1000 times its weight in water so it is like a big drink of water for the skin. Two sessions are recommended 3-4 weeks apart for best results.

Case Study: Christine Lily White, 63
