Chelsea are looking to ruin Tottenham’s dream start to the season. The home side have picked up 26 points in their opening 10 Premier League games this season, their best start to a top-flight season since 1960-61, when they won the title. But, can they continue their winning streak? Only time will tell.

So, looks like Tottenham struggle to shut Chelsea out when playing at home. As it stands, The Blues have scored more Premier League away goals against Tottenham in the competition than any other side (51).

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea assistant Jesus Perez has risked the wrath of Tottenham fans ahead of the Argentine’s first return to his old club on Monday night by posting a picture of his daughters wearing Blues kits.

Perez will travel with the ex-Spurs boss to the home of the Premier League high-flyers – who have enjoyed a remarkable start to life under Ange Postecoglou – having worked there as a coach between 2014 and 2019.

Chelsea looked to have turned a corner after a three-game unbeaten run, which included a creditable draw against Arsenal, but their home defeat to Brentford last time out has the raised the stakes for the match-up.

Ange Postecoglou is looking to make history this evening. A win this evening would see him become only the third manager to avoid defeat in his opening 11 fixtures.

The other two were Nottingham Forest’s Frank Clark in 1994 and Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri in 2018.

Tottenham have made two changes from the team that beat Crystal Palace 2-1. Destiny Udogie and Brennan Johnson have been selected for this evening’s fixture. As a result, Ben Davies and Richarlison drop out.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have made three changes to their team. Levi Colwill, Thiago Silva and Moises Caicedo have all come in while Marc Cucurella, Benoit Badiashile and Lesley Ugochukwu dropped out of the starting XI.

Tottenham’s starting XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison; Kulusevski, Son, Johnson

Chelsea’s starting XI: Sanchez; James, Thiago Silva, Disasi, Colwill; Fernandez, Gallagher, Caicedo; Palmer, Sterling, Jackson

“It’s a big game, a London derby and Chelsea, traditionally, especially in the last 10, 15 years, have been one of those sides who have been a benchmark for success,” he said ahead of the game,

“Anytime you play in these kind of games you look forward to them. The atmosphere will be great, we’re at home, brilliant for us… all of our home games so far have been fairly exciting, real engagement from our supporters. I’m looking forward to it, it should be another big night for us.

“They are a good team with some outstanding individual players and we’re going to have to be really strong from a collective point of view to overcome that.

“We don’t want to turn it into an individual battle, because they have players who can really hurt you, quality all over the park, but, so far, we’ve been really good in home games, making it difficult for all opposition, limiting their ability to hurt us and also being threatening the other way.”

“I don’t believe we need to show something special,” said Pochettino. “We need to be natural, that’s the most important thing.

“You cannot underestimate the Tottenham and Chelsea fans. I don’t want to be a hypocrite and say something I don’t feel, or I’m in the process of creating. People are clever.

“Chelsea fans know I was Tottenham, they know about the Champions League, they know about the Battle of the Bridge. It’s impossible to hide this emotion. Now I cannot say I forget all those things. That would be stupid.

“I’m going to be natural. I hope to enjoy to a great game, I want to win, that is our competitive side, and at the same time I want to enjoy being in a place that I was part of the process of building something special. That’s it. I am really calm, and I want to enjoy it, and I hope for a good night for us.”

“I didn’t decide to leave,” Pochettino said. “We parted ways because I was sacked. But it’s not a criticism to the club. That is a difference, we didn’t decide to leave. Maybe [we could be] still there.”

Speaking ahead of this evening’s game, he said: “Everyone I speak to around here, there are still people who worked with him, they can’t speak highly enough of him as a person and as a manager.

“I doubt there will be anything but respect for Mauricio from anyone at this football club, supporters or people associated, but it doesn’t mean he will get a guard of honour on Monday night because we want to win.”
