<\/p>\nAN AGE-DEFYING 60-year-old has hit back at people who have accused her of lying about her age.<\/p>\n
Jacqueline Hooton, who is from West Sussex, is determined to prove that age is just a number by breaking down societal norms that suggest only "young" people can be fit and healthy.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
In a clip shared to Instagram (@hergardengym), the fitness fanatic, who has been a personal trainer for over 20 years, responded to a comment which read: "Video of a 20-year=old lady dancing and it says she's 60. Not buying it. <\/p>\n
"If this lady really is 60, she's an extreme outlier who does not represent what's possible for 99.99% of people."<\/p>\n
However, Jacqueline has insisted that anyone can look and feel good if they put in the hard work – and it's all down to fitness.<\/p>\n
Following the birth of her son in 1989, the hot mum placed a huge emphasis on her health and fitness and the following year, she started working out to Jane Fonda.<\/p>\n
Now, she regularly shares posts on social media to urge women of any age to get moving, which may explain why people think she's younger than she is.<\/p>\n In a post shared on Instagram, Jacqueline penned: "The representation of older people in society is often narrow and restricted. And when you believe this is inevitable, you are less likely to engage in healthier ageing activities.<\/p>\n "Determinants of health include genetics, lifestyle and behaviour, environmental and physical influences, medical care and social factors. Whilst some things are out of our control, lifestyle choices play a BIG part in healthier ageing.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n "Physically fit people in their 50s, 60s, 70s and older may still have health challenges, and are not necessarily genetically blessed. But they have ONE thing in common. They ALL engage in regular physical activity.<\/p>\n "So get active, be active and stay active for life."<\/p>\n In a second video, she shared some of the other negative age stereotypes she's received.<\/p>\n Amongst the include: "You must embarrass your children," "cracking legs for an old bird" and "you'd look younger if you dyed your grey hair."<\/p>\n It wasn't long before the post went viral, with many quick to commend Jacqueline for the positive approach to ageism.<\/p>\n "I'm 63 (64 in four weeks) – we are definitely not outliers! I train regularly and have lots of friends and clients my age and older," wrote one.<\/p>\n "We all enjoy a good dance, a tough workout, a long hike and active holidays. And thanks to your account, more and more of us are visible and thriving."<\/p>\n A second penned: "People have no idea what 60 looks like these days. There is no one way to look at 60, we\u2019re all different."<\/p>\n A third noted: "This is so true! My mum's boyfriend is 63 training for a triathlon!"<\/p>\n Meanwhile, a fourth added: "That person's comment just seems like a projection! Fitness is for everyone, any age."<\/p>\n And a further chimed in: "Attitude and action is all we need to age in our best way possible!
