THE iconic Thyme Hill has sadly died after suffering an injury on the gallops on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

The nine-year-old horse had been superb for trainer Philip Hobbs over recent years. <\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

And Hobbs has been left heartbroken at the loss of one of his finest horses, labelling Thyme Hill as one of the best he's trained.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Racing Post, he said: "It's really sad, he's been brilliant for the yard for such a long time. <\/p>\n

"He certainly would rank up there with some of our best horses over the years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I suppose the highlight would have to be his Grade 1 at Aintree. He's been a bit unlucky at Cheltenham a few times but he's been a great horse for us for so many years."<\/p>\n

Thyme Hill never managed a win at the Cheltenham Festival, but came close to victory with a second place finish in the 2022 Stayers' Hurdle.<\/p>\n

But he did achieve success elsewhere winning eight races across his career and amassing over \u00a3400,000 in prize money. <\/p>\n

The horse racing world is in mourning over the sad passing of Thyme Hill with many fans taking to social media to pay tribute. <\/p>\n

One wrote: "Probably one of the most striking horses I have seen who had a purpose in his walk and a quiet but assured demeanour.<\/p>\n
