Queen Camilla had a "raunchy and randy" past that stopped her being accepted by the Royal Family, a new book has claimed.

The X-rated rumours were laid bare by royal author Omid Scobie in his latest biography Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, released today (Tuesday, November 28). The book details how a younger Camilla went from the mistress of married King Charles – then the Prince of Wales – to a fully-fledged member of the monarchy.

Camilla and Charles share an infamously complicated history but she had a racy reputation even before she began courting the king, according to Scobie. "Over the years, some who knew Camilla during this time have told various authors and journalists that the young Ms. Shand was known for being 'raunchy and randy' and the sort to 'throw her knickers on the table.'"

Camilla's alleged sexual notoriety was one of a number of reasons she was initially rejected by the Firm as a potential wife for Charles, Scobie claimed. This came "alongside the fact she was a 'commoner' (the air around her family home not rarefied enough) and an 'experienced woman' (read: not a virgin)," the author added.
