Not put off by watching his Birmingham team stumble to a 0-0 draw with Rotherham on Saturday, Tom Brady continued his soccer tour of the UK by taking in Manchester City vs Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.

The NFL legend, who hung up his cleats at the end of last season, switched one football for another when he bought a stake in Championship side Birmingham recently, and he crossed the pond to watch their game on Saturday.

And now, rather than flying straight back to the US, Brady is sticking around for a much more high-profile game in the North East, heading to the Etihad for a huge EPL clash between City and Spurs.

City’s social media team shared two photos of a dapper-looking Brady arriving at the Eihad ahead of the game, with the ex-Patriots icon wearing a grey coat and scarf as he smiled for the cameras.

Brady spent Friday watching Birmingham practice ahead of their game against Rotherham and then spent time with manager Wayne Rooney before sitting in the stands to watch the 0-0 draw, with the Blues continuing to struggle this season.

He announced he had taken a minor stake in the second-tier soccer team on his 46th birthday on August 3 and the team made a promising start to the season under former coach John Eustace.

Brady appeared at Birmingham’s first home game of the new season in August – a 1-0 win against Leeds United and the seven-time Super Bowl winner was welcomed by the team’s passionate fanbase.

Since then, they have let Eustace go and appointed Rooney, with results since falling off a cliff and they have dropped to 15th in the table.

When Brady announced his stake in the team in August, he admitted he needed to educate himself about the ‘other’ football.

Well, let’s just say, I’ve got a lot to learn. But I do know a few things about winning, and I think they might translate pretty well,’ Brady said.

‘I know success starts with the work put in when the world isn’t watching. I know that a team is nothing without the city that shows up and stands behind it. And most importantly, I know I like being the underdog.’

Brady retired from the NFL in February after his Tampa Bay Buccaneers team were knocked out of the playoffs by Dallas Cowboys.
