A police officer has intervened heroically to rescue an 11-year-old girl from a suspected paedophile who could now face chemical castration.<\/p>\n
The officer, who is being hailed as hero in Kazakhstan, reacted quickly to the cries for help from the girl, as shown by security camera footage.<\/p>\n
The video shows the attacker attempting to drag the girl up the stairs of an apartment building.<\/p>\n
Hearing the girl’s cries the police inspector successfully separated her from the suspect, and the terrified 11-year-old held onto the policeman’s hand for safety.<\/p>\n
The officer recalled: “I noticed a man near the entrance who was forcibly holding a girl [aged 11 or 12], trying to take her to his flat. It was clear that the child was trying to escape.<\/p>\n

“She was in danger. I snatched her from his grasp. The girl was very scared and did not let go of my hand.”<\/p>\n
The assailant is currently in custody after being discovered to be under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n
If he is found guilty of attempting abduction with the intent to commit sexual assault, he may face chemical castration under Kazakhstan’s strict laws.<\/p>\n

A preliminary investigation has been launched under the country’s attempted rape laws.<\/p>\n
The officer successfully returned the girl to her mother and received widespread praise from his country’s media.<\/p>\n
The hero cop said: “I do not regard my action as heroic, any policeman in my place would have done the same.”<\/p>\n
