AN AUSSIE mum has been slammed for giving her fussy son Prime drink instead of water.

During the school holidays her 18-year-old son loves nothing more than sitting in his bedroom playing video games – often forgetting to get drinks.

She revealed her 'fussy' son 'doesn't like the taste of plain water' so the mum decided to take matters into her own hands.

The mum purchased a water cooler – but instead of filling it up with water she used five crates of Prime instead.

The water cooler was placed right next to his gamin station so he could get unlimited refills – but not everyone was happy.

"Here's how I keep my gamer son hydrated," the mum said in the TikTok video.

"My son is so fussy and doesn't like the taste of plain water. We found another solution – water cooler and Prime."

She added that Prime, the kid-favourite drink created by KSI and Logan Paul, is 'hard to come by' in Australia but she was able to get a decent supply from The Retail Correction.

The energy drink retails for $2.30 ($4.50) each at Woolworths but earlier this year sold for as much as $25 at other retailers and on Facebook Marketplace.

"With the school holidays, he doesn't even have to go out of his room to get a drink," she continued.

In the clip, her son leans over from his gaming setup and fills a mug up with Prime from the cooler. so he can carry on gaming without taking his eyes off the screen.

Prime drinks are labelled as a 'hydration drink' filled with electrolytes, there has been concern as to whether the sports drink provides any benefits. It's also made with coconut water and artificial sweeteners.

The controversial clip posted to her TikTok account @big.johns has since been viewed more than 8.9million times and many shared their thoughts on the matter.

People slammed the mum for filling it with Prime – while other said it was 'sad' to watch.

One person wrote: "what’s next a portable toilet?"

Another commented: "This kid is so spoiled."

"Take him to the beach or something," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "This is sad like actually sad."

"Nah this is crazy,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: "Go outside mate."

Three days later a second video was published the sports drink was replaced with water.

"Out with the Prime and in with the water. I decided it was time for my son to start drinking water again," the mum said.

The cooler was removed, emptied out and filled with water before being taken back into her son's bedroom so he can stay hydrated while gaming.

"He's loving it. I'm so proud," she continued.

Fabulous will pay for your exclusive stories.
