Amanda Abbington shuts down feud rumours with Gio and says they ‘laugh a lot’
Amanda Abbington has raised eyebrows over a resurfaced comment she made before taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The 51-year-old chose to withdraw from the competition, but before the series began, she mentioned that her biggest challenge was to keep her competitiveness in check.
In a pre-show interview, Amanda said: “I think the biggest challenge is that I’m very competitive and I have to keep that in check.
“I’ve got to remember that you’re going into it and it’s a competition, but that’s not the be all and end all, I need go in and have fun and a nice time.”
Before taking part in the hit series, Amanda mentioned that she had sought advice from previous Strictly contestants.

She continued: “Everybody that I’ve spoken to like Catherine Tyldesley and Sunetra Sarker have said just go in and enjoy it.
“Don’t go in to win it, just have the best time and take it step by step literally.
“You’ll have the most fun then and that’s what I wanted to do… just come in and have a nice time.”
The Sherlock star also said she would have loved to have won the show and lifted the coveted Glitterball trophy.
