EVEN celebrities get rejected from their dreams, however, for some lucky few it turns out getting rejected was the best career move that could have happened.
From Harry Styles becoming one of the world's biggest solo artists to Stacey Solomon becoming a national treasure – here's the most successful X Factor rejects of all time.
Stacey Solomon
Long gone are the days of a fresh-faced Stacey stepping onto a stage and singing her heart out to Simon Cowell.
Stacey, who was 19 at the time, finished in third place on the sixth series in 2009 – but her time on the show has led her to become a national treasure 14 years on as well as rake in an estimated £4million.
A year after X Factor, Stacey headed to the jungle with I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Her down-to-earth character stole the nation’s heart leading her to win the show and present the spin off show, I'm A Celebrity, Extra Camp, where she met her now husband Joe Swash.
Now, the 33-year-old mum of five has her own BBC show, Sort Your Life Out, as well as appearing on Loose Women as a panellist.

Jedward
It seems that Stacey wasn’t the only 2009 contestant to make it big after the show.
Jedward became a household name thanks to their defying gravity hairdos and wacky wardrobes on stage, but ultimately got eliminated at sixth place.
Simon Cowell was once quoted, saying john and Edward Grimes were ‘not very good and incredibly annoying.’
But they for sure have had the last laugh after being estimated to be worth over £5.8million, according to wealth website Celebrity Net Worth.
The blonde Irish twins, now 32, had a surprisingly successful music career after the show finished with Louis Walsh as their manager.
They went on to tour and release an album titled Planet Jedward as well as represent Ireland in eurovision.
The identical twins have appeared in numerous TV shows together including Celebrity Big Brother in 2011 and Celebrity Coach Trip in 2019.
The pair now tend to keep their followers updated on social media, hanging with the likes of influencers Summer Fox.
The pair may have found fame with The X Factor but haven’t spoken highly about the show in recent years, saying that every contestant “was a slave to that show and got paid zero while they made millions”.
Marvin Humes
Forming one fourth of JLS – they took the competition by storm, however, they failed to win first place, coming in second place to Alexander Burke on the fifth series of the show.
Despite that, the band went on to have several number one hits including ‘Beat Again’ and won countless awards including the MOBO award for Best UK act and Best Album in 2010.
The band released five albums in total and went on five tours before splitting up in 2013, and Marvin went on to pursue a new career path.
After the band split, he moved on to presenting ITV’s This Morning alongside his wife Rochelle Humes and became regular stand-ins on the show.
He then moved to present The Voice UK for two seasons, as well as presenting Children In Need with his wife.
The 38-year-old also made history in 2020 by becoming the first ever male guest-host to present Loose Women.
Currently, Marvin is performing with JLS at their reunion tour, Capital claims he is now worth £4million thanks to his lucrative singing and present careers.
Rylan Clark
Appearing on the ninth season of the singing competition at the age of 24 – Rylan Clark came fifth in the show – proving Gary Barlow wrong after he branded him a ‘joke act.’
Now Rylan who is thought to be worth £5million has become one of the most sought after TV presenters with gigs ranging from This Morning, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, Celebrity Big Brother as well as his own BBC radio show.
The 35 year old is constantly popping up on our screens as a presenter as well as a contestant on Celebrity MasterChef, winning Celebrity big Brother and celebrity Gogglebox.
But it seems Rylan isn’t quite done with branching out his career – now becoming a scent sommelier, something he has been passionate about since releasing his own fragrance back in 2018.

Brenda Edwards
She’s made a name for herself as a stage actress in the likes of Chicago and Sister Act: The Musical as well as become a regular panellist for Loose Women.
However, she first found fame when she appeared on the second series of The x Factor back in 2005 where she finished in fourth place.
Since her singing career got a welcomed boost from appearing on the show Brenda has also gone on to present BBC’s Songs of Praise and Entertainment daily estimates her worth to be between £2million and £4million.
Fleur East
The 36-year-old first appeared on our screens as part of a girl group called Addictiv Ladies in the second series of the show and their dreams were left in tatters after being kicked out in week one.
But that didn’t deter Fleur who made her way back to the X Factor for it’s 11th series in 2014 and clearly wowed the judges finishing in second place.
Since then, The Londoner has gone on to have a diverse career from releasing albums, performing on Strictly Come Dancing and competing on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.
And it seems her appearance on these competition shows have paid off quite literally – she is now estimated to be worth £5million and has gone on to host Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two as well as Hits Radio.
Olly Murs
This cheeky chappy soon had the nation swooning with his Essex-charm and came in second on the sixth series of The X factor.
Despite not winning, Olly was soon snapped up by Sony Music and released seven albums and had numerous number one hits including ‘Dance With Me Tonight.’
As well as a highly successful music career, the now 39-year-old was also asked to come back to The X Factor to co-present the spin off show, The Xtra Factor, with the late Caroline Flack.
He then went on to present the leading show before moving to The Voice UK as a singing coach.
Now, the down to earth Essex boy is worth over £5million and even has his own wax model in Madame Tussauds, Blackpool.
Harry Styles
One Direction became one of the biggest boy bands of the century, with a flurry of female fans people hadn’t seen since The Beatles.
Although Harry and his band mates auditioned alone, Simon Cowell soon turned them into a group and it clearly paid off.
Appearing in the seventh series of the show the boys came third place but they went on to become the biggest stars from the show with a world-wide fan base.
The group stayed together for six years selling sold out stadium tours and five number one songs before calling it quits in 2016.
But Harry, with his adorning following of fans, reached even bigger fame as a solo artist – releasing his first solo album in 2017 and went on to release his third in 2022.
Styles is now estimated to be worth £98million according to Celebrity Net Worth.
His most recent tour, Love on Tour, became the fifth-highest-grossing tour of all time, bringing in more than $600 million, according to Billboard.
