Calee Shea, a holistic health practitioner based in Atlanta, has more than 86,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares hormone health tips, including recipes.
The content creator, who uses the handle @caleeshea, went viral after posting a video of herself pulling her sheets and blankets off of her mattress after waking up.

Most people are taught to make their beds first thing in the morning, but science suggests that it’s better to wait and give your mattress a chance to air out.
Covering your mattress with blankets and sheets first thing in the morning traps moisture and dead skin in the bed, turning them into a breeding ground for dust mites, according to research out of Kingston University London.
Dust mites are not only gross, but they also cause asthma and other allergies.
‘One of my top tips for a better night of sleep: swapping the habit of making my bed with unmaking my bed,’ Calee explained in her video’s caption.
‘Improving sleep quality has a direct connection with hormone health, focus, energy, metabolism, and more.’
In another video, the expert shared how to ‘intentionally unmake your bed,’ saying you should ‘shake out your covers and sheets’ before pulling them back to air out the mattress.
‘Let that bed breathe,’ she wrote.
Calee said she waits 60 minutes before going back and formally making her bed.

Calee later pinned the popular video, which has been viewed 1.5 million times and has received more than 200 comments.
TikTok users who don’t regularly make their beds were thrilled with the advice, but others insisted they have to do it first thing in the morning for their mental health.
‘Always leave my bed UNMADE. Always and forever. It’s a must for health,’ one person responded.
‘Yeah no my room is small and it looks so messy when my bed isn’t made,’ someone else argued.
‘Ah so now I can say it’s intentional and for my hormones,’ another joked.
