THE iconic Thyme Hill has sadly died after suffering an injury on the gallops on Tuesday morning.
The nine-year-old horse had been superb for trainer Philip Hobbs over recent years.
And Hobbs has been left heartbroken at the loss of one of his finest horses, labelling Thyme Hill as one of the best he's trained.
Speaking to the Racing Post, he said: "It's really sad, he's been brilliant for the yard for such a long time.
"He certainly would rank up there with some of our best horses over the years.
"I suppose the highlight would have to be his Grade 1 at Aintree. He's been a bit unlucky at Cheltenham a few times but he's been a great horse for us for so many years."

Thyme Hill never managed a win at the Cheltenham Festival, but came close to victory with a second place finish in the 2022 Stayers' Hurdle.
But he did achieve success elsewhere winning eight races across his career and amassing over £400,000 in prize money.
The horse racing world is in mourning over the sad passing of Thyme Hill with many fans taking to social media to pay tribute.
One wrote: "Probably one of the most striking horses I have seen who had a purpose in his walk and a quiet but assured demeanour.
